[I noticed my Dodgers wallpaper had a glitchy image for the Dodgers logo so I fixed the image and updated it here. - Peng]
Even though I love in Boston my heart is firmly kept in the Crescent City and in about an hour the Krewe of Zulu will kick off today’s Mardi Gras parades.
In the past I’ve given links to WWL-TV’s coverage of the day’s festivities but in the past year I’ve found their coverage of several things lacking so this year I’m going to make a slight change. This year I’m going to refer you to WDSU, the NBC affiliate in my home town. Like WWL they also stream their news broadcasts online, and while I’ll miss the WWL crew’s traditional costumes I look forward to seeing how WDSU treats the holiday.
(I knew I was forgetting something.) If you’d like to enjoy a Mardi Gras soundtrack as your go throughout your day there’s no better place to get it from than the good folks at WWOZ in New Orleans, a great public radio station that brings you some of the best tunes you’ve ever heard..
This year there are two things to celebrate. Not only is it Mardi Gras Day in the City that Care Forgot, it’s also the day that pitchers and catchers report to spring training at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, AZ. That’s right, all you cats and kittehs, it’s just about time for Dodgers baseball, and I have created an image I’ll be putting on my computer’s desktop later today to mark the day’s events, which you can see on the left. Vin Scully will not only be calling the games for the Dodgers one more year he’ll also be calling a pair of spring training games so you can start hearing his unique calls in the weeks to come.
No matter where you are this Fat Tuesday and what MLB team you follow, have a most excellent Mardi Gras Day! Laissez le bon ton roulette!
